Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple dairy infrastructure and cooperative initiatives in Ladakh, giving a major push to rural livelihoods and the local economy.

During the visit, Shah emphasized strengthening the cooperative movement and enhancing milk production capacity in the region. The initiatives include modern dairy processing units, cold storage facilities, and support systems for local farmers, aimed at improving income opportunities and ensuring better market access.

Highlighting the government’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (prosperity through cooperation), he underlined the role of cooperatives in empowering rural communities, particularly in remote and high-altitude regions like Ladakh.

The projects are expected to boost dairy development, generate employment, and strengthen self-reliance among local populations. These efforts align with the broader goal of inclusive growth and infrastructure expansion in strategically important border regions.

Officials noted that the initiatives will also help integrate Ladakh’s dairy sector with national supply chains, improving efficiency and sustainability.

He added that the Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation has been established to boost industrial development. He said the goal is to make this border region self-reliant. He expressed gratitude to the people of Ladakh and Kargil, stating that whenever India faced threats at the border, they bravely defended the nation. He said the entire country recognizes Ladakh’s patriotism and sacrifices and remains deeply grateful.
