India’s textile exports registered strong growth in August 2026, rising 16.1% year-on-year to ₹29,776 crore, compared with ₹25,656 crore in August 2025, according to the Ministry of Textiles.
The growth was broad-based across major textile segments. Exports of cotton yarn, fabrics, made-ups and handloom products increased by 24.1%, while man-made yarn, fabrics and made-ups grew by 19.9% during the month. Carpet exports rose 15%, while handicrafts, excluding handmade carpets, recorded particularly strong growth of 41.4%.
Ready-made garments of all textiles also maintained positive momentum, with exports increasing by 6.1% in August. The performance indicates continued expansion across different segments of India’s textile export basket.
During April–August 2026, cumulative textile exports reached ₹1.43 lakh crore, registering 10.3% growth over the corresponding period of the previous year. In the same period, cotton textiles grew 18%, man-made textiles 13.6%, carpets 11.9% and handicrafts 44%.
The Ministry of Textiles attributed the sustained growth to factors including improved market access, policy interventions, value addition and diversification of export markets. The sector continues to play an important role in India’s manufacturing, employment and overall export performance.
