Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated development projects worth ₹427.80 crore at Paradip Port, marking a major step forward in strengthening the country’s maritime infrastructure.
A key highlight of the development is Paradip Port’s 18.5-metre deep-draft capability, enabling the port to handle larger vessels and improve operational efficiency. The enhanced capability is expected to support increased cargo movement and strengthen the port’s competitiveness in international maritime trade.
The newly inaugurated projects form part of the government’s broader efforts to modernise port infrastructure, improve logistics efficiency and expand India’s maritime capacity.
With upgraded infrastructure and deeper-draft facilities, Paradip Port is positioned to play an even greater role in India’s growing trade and logistics network, supporting economic growth and strengthening the country’s maritime sector.
