In another milestone for India’s indigenous naval shipbuilding capabilities, Mangrol, the third Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Kochi, has been delivered. The delivery highlights India’s continued focus on strengthening its maritime security and developing advanced naval platforms through domestic shipbuilding.
Designed for anti-submarine warfare operations in shallow waters, the ASW SWC programme is aimed at enhancing the Indian Navy’s ability to detect and counter underwater threats in coastal and littoral areas. The delivery of Mangrol further reflects the growing role of Indian shipyards in supporting the country’s defence preparedness and the broader Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative in defence manufacturing.
With the addition of another indigenously built warship, India takes another step towards a more capable and self-reliant maritime defence ecosystem.
