The Indian Navy’s sail training ship INS Sudarshini has successfully concluded a three-day port call at Las Palmas, marking a key milestone in its ongoing Lokayan 26 transoceanic expedition.

 

During the visit, the ship’s Commanding Officer called on senior Spanish naval officials, including the Chief of the Canary Islands Naval Command, underscoring growing maritime cooperation between India and Spain. The engagement highlighted strengthening bilateral naval ties and mutual commitment to maritime security and collaboration.

 

The ship was opened to visitors, attracting members of the local community and the Indian diaspora. Guided tours showcased India’s rich seafaring heritage, fostering cultural exchange and people-to-people connections.

 

Following the visit, INS Sudarshini will sail to Mindelo in Cape Verde, its final African stop before embarking on the trans-Atlantic leg of the voyage. The vessel has already completed multiple port calls across West Asia, the Mediterranean, Europe, and Africa as part of its mission to promote goodwill and maritime partnerships.
