The initiative is being undertaken under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) as part of the branding campaign “Kiwi: USP of Arunachal Pradesh”. It is being implemented in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Commerce and the Department of Horticulture, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

The primary objective is to introduce Ziro kiwi to international consumers, assess its market potential and establish stronger export linkages for local farmers.

Arunachal Pradesh’s high-altitude climate and favourable natural growing conditions provide an ideal environment for kiwi cultivation. The region produces several varieties, including Hayward, Monty, Allison and Bruno. Among these, the Hayward variety has demonstrated promising demand in international markets.

With the consignment reaching retail shelves in Dubai, the initiative has moved into the market assessment stage. Consumer tasting sessions and feedback will help evaluate the fruit’s acceptance, demand, quality expectations, packaging and presentation requirements.
