The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out Tamil Nadu’s first Barrierless Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system, marking a significant step towards modernising toll collection and improving the movement of vehicles on national highways.

The new system is designed to enable vehicles to pass through tolling points without stopping at conventional toll plazas. Using advanced electronic tolling and vehicle identification technologies, the system can facilitate seamless toll collection while reducing waiting times and congestion.

The introduction of MLFF technology is expected to improve the overall travel experience for highway users by supporting smoother traffic flow and reducing delays associated with traditional toll barriers.

The initiative also reflects NHAI’s broader efforts to adopt technology-driven solutions for more efficient highway operations and smarter transportation infrastructure.

With the rollout of Tamil Nadu’s first barrierless multi-lane free-flow tolling system, the state takes another step towards faster, more seamless and technology-enabled highway travel.
