The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the export of Bihar’s famous makhana (fox nuts) from Purnea to Greece, highlighting the growing global demand for India’s traditional agricultural products.

The export initiative provides an international market for makhana producers and traders in Bihar while strengthening the state’s position in the global value chain for this nutritious food product.

Purnea is one of Bihar’s important makhana-producing regions, and the overseas shipment reflects efforts to connect local agricultural production with international markets. Such exports can create new opportunities for farmers, processors and other stakeholders involved in the makhana value chain.

The development also underscores the potential of India’s diverse agricultural products in overseas markets and the role of export facilitation in supporting rural livelihoods and expanding the global reach of Indian food products.

The shipment to Greece marks another step in promoting Bihar’s makhana on the international stage and strengthening India’s agricultural export ecosystem.
