India’s Ministry of Coal reports that, as of February 2025, coal production from captive and commercial mines has reached 167.36 million tonnes (MT) for the financial year 2024-25, marking a 32.53% increase from the 126.28 MT produced by February 28, 2024.
Coal dispatches have also risen significantly, totaling 170.66 MT for the current financial year, a 32.86% increase compared to the 128.45 MT recorded in the previous year. Notably, Bhaskarpara Coal Mine, operated by M/s Prakash Industries Limited, commenced production on February 15, 2025, with a Peak Rated Capacity (PRC) of 15 MT.
These developments ensure a stable and uninterrupted coal supply to key sectors such as power, steel, and cement, contributing to India’s energy security and industrial growth.
