Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Kaynes Semicon Plant at Sanand in Gujarat, marking a significant step in India’s push to strengthen its semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.

The facility, set up by Kaynes Technology India Limited, is aimed at boosting domestic capabilities in semiconductor assembly, testing, marking, and packaging (ATMP), a critical segment of the electronics value chain.

The plant is expected to play a key role in reducing India’s dependence on imported semiconductor components while supporting the government’s vision of building a robust and self-reliant electronics manufacturing sector under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Located in Sanand—an emerging industrial hub—the facility is likely to generate employment opportunities and attract further investments in the semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.

Officials highlighted that the inauguration aligns with India’s broader strategy to position itself as a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing and advanced technology production.
