In a historic move to bolster the innovation landscape at the state level, the Government of Tripura, in collaboration with NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), launched the country’s first State Innovation Mission (SIM) at the International Exhibition Centre in Hapania, Agartala, on February 26, 2026 . The landmark event also witnessed the announcement of India’s first state-level Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, marking a significant leap in leveraging technology for governance and development .

 

The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, in the presence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, and the Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, Shri Suman Bery .

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the mission’s transformative potential. “The Tripura State Innovation Mission is a novel initiative supported by the Atal Innovation Mission to create an ecosystem that nurtures talented enterprises, adopts cutting-edge technologies, and translates ideas into projects,” he said . He highlighted that the mission is part of NITI Aayog’s State Support Mission (SSM), designed to help states build localized innovation ecosystems based on their specific strengths .
