In a significant step towards promoting research and studies on the life, philosophy, and contributions of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today for the establishment of three new Dr. Ambedkar Chairs at prominent universities across the country. The initiative, undertaken by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, aims to strengthen academic engagement on constitutionalism, social justice, and inclusive governance—key themes central to Dr. Ambedkar’s vision for modern India.

The new Chairs will focus on interdisciplinary research, policy advocacy, and awareness programmes on social empowerment, equity, and human rights. They are also expected to organize seminars, workshops, and lectures to encourage student and faculty participation in Ambedkarite thought and values.

Officials stated that the move reflects the government’s commitment to carrying forward Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy by fostering institutions of learning that embody his ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity. Each Chair will receive dedicated funding and academic support from the Foundation, ensuring sustained research and community outreach in their respective institutions.
