The Government of India has officially designated three major ports — Deendayal Port (Kandla, Gujarat), V.O. Chidambaranar Port (Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu), and Paradip Port (Odisha) — as Green Hydrogen Hubs under its National Green Hydrogen Mission. This strategic decision aims to create a robust ecosystem for the production, storage, and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives (like green ammonia) by leveraging the infrastructure and strategic locations of these major ports.

These ports are being identified as the first nodes to build infrastructure for green hydrogen, green ammonia and green methanol exports. The government has set the target of exporting about 5 million tonnes per annum of green hydrogen and its derivatives by 2030.
