In a significant boost to Haryana’s dairy sector and the rural economy, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated a modern dairy processing plant established by Sabar Dairy in Rohtak today. The event marks a pivotal step towards strengthening the ‘White Revolution’ in the region.
The newly inaugurated plant is equipped with advanced technology for processing milk and producing a variety of dairy products. This expansion is expected to provide a substantial market for milk produced by local farmers, enhancing their income and creating numerous direct and indirect employment opportunities.
In his inaugural address, he underscored the pivotal role of the cooperative movement in empowering farmers and driving rural prosperity. He praised the efforts of Sabar Dairy, a key unit of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets its products under the renowned ‘Amul’ brand.
Key Features and Expected Impact:
- Increased Milk Processing Capacity: The plant will significantly increase the daily milk handling capacity, allowing Sabar Dairy to procure more milk from local farmers.
- Value-Added Products: It will produce a range of high-demand products such as pasteurized milk, curd, butter, ghee, and ice-cream, catering to the growing market in the National Capital Region (NCR) and beyond.
- Farmer Prosperity: The expansion is designed to directly benefit thousands of milk producers associated with the cooperative, ensuring a stable and remunerative market for their produce.
- Employment Generation: The plant is expected to create numerous jobs in production, logistics, marketing, and administration, giving a boost to the local economy.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Cooperation, the Chief Minister of Haryana, and top leadership from GCMMF and Sabar Dairy, who collectively emphasized the plant’s role as a new engine for growth in the region.
