In a significant move to bolster digital security and cyber resilience across the National Highway network, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), through its subsidiary Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), an Institution of National Importance under the Government of India.

The MoU was signed by Shri A. R. Chitranshi, Chief Operating Officer, IHMCL, and Dr. S. O. Junare, Campus Director, NFSU, Gandhinagar, in the presence of Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav, Chairman, NHAI, Shri Vishal Chauhan, Chairman & Managing Director, IHMCL, and senior officials from both organisations.

Under the three-year collaborative framework, NFSU will extend its expertise in cyber forensics, digital evidence integrity, research, training and consultancy to support NHAI and IHMCL in strengthening digital security infrastructures connected with national highway operations and management systems.

The partnership focuses on enhancing technological resilience and institutional capacity by developing specialised capabilities in areas such as secure camera-based imaging systems, multimedia and audio-video forensics, encrypted data storage, and forensic validation laboratories. It will also encompass state-of-the-art training programmes aimed at bolstering cyber security and forensic acumen among relevant professionals.

The MoU will additionally support cutting-edge digital applications deployed on National Highways, including Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling, Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) systems, through robustness assessments and cyber security measures.

This collaboration reinforces NHAI’s commitment to ensuring a secure, resilient and technologically advanced digital ecosystem for National Highway management and operations.
