The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance coordination and promote integrated development of road and rail infrastructure across their operational regions.

The MoU aims to facilitate better planning, execution, and maintenance of infrastructure projects by improving cooperation between the two agencies. Key areas of collaboration include sharing of technical expertise, coordinated project implementation, optimization of land use, and resolution of issues related to crossings, utilities, and right-of-way.

According to officials, the agreement is expected to help reduce project delays, improve safety standards, and minimize duplication of efforts in regions where national highways and railway networks intersect, particularly along the Konkan corridor.

NHAI and Konkan Railway will also explore opportunities for multimodal connectivity, efficient logistics movement, and sustainable infrastructure practices under the partnership. The collaboration aligns with the government’s broader vision of integrated and seamless transportation networks to support economic growth and regional development.
