The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has created multiple Guinness World Records during the construction of the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor (NH-544G), marking a major milestone in India’s highway infrastructure development.

The records were achieved on ongoing packages of the six-lane, access-controlled corridor in Andhra Pradesh, showcasing exceptional execution speed, scale and quality in highway construction.

Guinness World Records Achieved

NHAI, along with its concessionaire M/s Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd., achieved the following records:

  • Longest continuous laying of bituminous concrete in 24 hours: 28.89 lane-km
  • Highest quantity of bituminous concrete laid in 24 hours: 10,655 metric tonnes
  • Highest quantity of bituminous concrete laid continuously: 57,500 metric tonnes
  • Longest continuous paving stretch: 156 lane-km, surpassing the previous world record of 84.4 lane-km

These records were set during paving operations conducted between January 6 and January 11, 2026, near Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, under stringent quality and safety standards.

The record-breaking effort involved deployment of advanced construction machinery, including high-capacity hot mix plants, pavers, rollers and logistics fleets. Quality assurance and process monitoring were carried out with technical support from IIT Bombay and equipment manufacturers.

The 343-km-long Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor is a key infrastructure project aimed at improving regional connectivity and boosting economic activity in southern India. Once completed, the corridor will:

  • Reduce travel distance by nearly 100 km
  • Cut travel time by approximately four hours
  • Improve logistics efficiency and road safety

These Guinness World Records highlight India’s growing capabilities in fast-track, high-quality infrastructure development, reinforcing NHAI’s commitment to building world-class highways aligned with global best practices.
