The Indian Navy ushered in a new chapter of leadership as Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, AVSM, NM, assumed charge as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) of the Southern Naval Command (SNC), headquartered in Kochi, Kerala. The appointment follows the retirement of Vice Admiral Vennam Srinivas, AVSM, NM, after a distinguished career of over 38 years of service.

 

The formal Change of Command ceremony was held with full naval tradition at the Naval Base, Kochi, featuring a ceremonial Guard of Honour and the customary “Pulling Out” of the outgoing Commander-in-Chief in the presence of officers, sailors, civilian personnel, and families of SNC.

 

He was awarded the Nausena Medal in 2017 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2023. He has also been commended by the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Commissioner of Police of Mauritius, both times for acts of gallantry at sea.

 

He is married to Mrs Laboni Saxena who has been committed to the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association activities over the years.
