The Ministry of Labour & Employment today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with quick-commerce company Zepto, in the presence of Union Minister for Labour & Employment & Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. Under the terms of this MoU, Zepto will post 10,000 job opportunities via the National Career Service (NCS) portal during the agreement period. These roles will span urban areas and prioritize youth, women, and first-time job-seekers.
Dr. Mandaviya, in his address, highlighted the pivotal role of the NCS platform as a bridge between employers and job seekers. He noted that the portal currently has over 52 lakh registered employers and has mobilized nearly 7.5 crore vacancies to date. He also spoke about plans to further augment NCS using AI and advanced digital tools to better match candidates with opportunities. Welcoming the collaboration, Dr. Mandaviya said the partnership will open a “new window of opportunity” by enabling Zepto to tap into India’s skilled talent base.
Ms. Vandana Gurnani, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, elaborated that the MoU will help further the formalization of work and extend social security coverage to gig and platform workers. She emphasized that NCS is more than a job portal—it provides career counselling, job matching, skilling linkages, and more. From Zepto’s side, Kaivalya Vohra (Co-founder) commented that integrating with NCS will allow the company to provide thousands of gig and full-time roles while contributing to youth employment and economic growth.
This cooperation marks another step in the government’s efforts to integrate platform economy opportunities into the formal employment and skilling ecosystem. It builds upon earlier pacts between the Ministry and companies like Amazon, Swiggy, Rapido, and Quikr, which cumulatively have added hundreds of thousands of job postings to NCS.
