Industry-Led 5G & AI Training

In a landmark move to strengthen India’s digital talent pool, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Ericsson India, Qualcomm Technologies, Cisco Systems, and Nokia Solutions and Networks India to launch industry-led training in 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), cybersecurity, and networking at its premier training facility, the Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training (BRBRAITT) in Jabalpur.

Under the initiative, more than 2,000 students will be trained annually in cutting-edge telecom and digital technologies. The Phase I investment exceeds ₹1 crore, with training modules ranging from short two-week programs to intensive 84-hour courses.

Ericsson India will set up a 5G Centre of Excellence, offering hands-on and online training through the Ericsson Educate Program. Qualcomm Technologies will establish a Qualcomm Institute for advanced 5G and AI skilling, including live sessions, internships, and full sponsorship for the first 100 participants.

Cisco Systems will integrate its Networking Academy curriculum to boost networking and cybersecurity training, offering free online modules nationwide through BSNL-coordinated non-profit institutions. Nokia Solutions & Networks India will create a 5G Centre of Excellence and an AI/ML Lab to train 300 students annually, with joint certification supported by the Telecom Sector Skill Council.

The initiative is aligned with the Department of Telecommunications’ vision to set up a Telecom Innovation, Research and Training Centre (TIRTC) at BRBRAITT, positioning Jabalpur as a national hub for telecom R&D, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia hailed the program as “a transformative step” that will enhance employment opportunities, drive innovation, and strengthen India’s position in the global digital economy.
