India has achieved a historic milestone by crossing 50,000 National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certifications, marking a quantum leap in the quality of public healthcare delivery across the country. The achievement reflects the Government of India’s sustained commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring safe, effective, patient-centric, and equitable services at public health facilities. NQAS certifications are awarded to health institutions that meet stringent quality benchmarks under the National Health Mission.

The widespread adoption of NQAS standards has led to significant improvements in clinical services, infection control, patient safety, service delivery, and patient satisfaction across primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare facilities. This milestone underscores India’s progress towards Universal Health Coverage and reinforces the Government’s focus on delivering affordable, high-quality healthcare to all citizens, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
