The Indian Navy inducted the eleventh Ammunition-cum-Torpedo-cum-Missile (ACTCM) barge, LSAM 25 (Yard 135), at an induction ceremony held today at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. The event, marking the formal delivery of the final unit under the contract, was presided over by Cmde Sumeet Vishnu Shidore, GM (R) Naval Dockyard (Mumbai) as the chief guest.

 

 

The LSAM series — purpose-designed barges for the movement, embarking and disembarking of ammunition, torpedoes and missiles — are indigenously designed and built in India under a contract awarded to the MSME shipyard M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt. Ltd., Thane. The contract for construction and delivery of eleven ACTCM barges was concluded in March 2021; LSAM 25 was launched at the Suryadipta yard on 8 September 2025 and has now completed trials and formal induction.

Capability: ACTCM barges provide a secure platform to handle and transship ammunition, torpedoes and missiles between shore and ships alongside jetties and in outer harbours, enhancing the Navy’s logistics flexibility and operational readiness.
