he Indian Navy today commissioned INS Aravali, a new shore-based establishment in Gurugram, aimed at strengthening India’s maritime domain awareness (MDA) and enhancing coordination in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The commissioning ceremony was presided over by Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff.
Named after the historic Aravali mountain range, the establishment symbolizes steadfastness and resilience. Its crest features the Aravali peaks and a rising sun, signifying strength, vigilance, and the dawn of new capabilities. The motto of INS Aravali is “सामुद्रिकसुरक्षायाः सहयोगं” (Maritime Security through Collaboration).
Unlike traditional naval bases, INS Aravali will function as an information and communication hub, supporting the Navy’s Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC), coastal radar chain, satellites, and allied systems. The facility will play a central role in real-time surveillance, threat analysis, and collaborative operations, thereby enhancing India’s maritime security architecture.
Officials said the establishment will also act as a technology and coordination hub, linking naval platforms with other security agencies and stakeholders, reinforcing India’s preparedness in the increasingly contested waters of the Indo-Pacific.
