The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the export of 20 metric tonnes (MT) of fortified rice from Chhattisgarh to Papua New Guinea.

The consignment was shipped by Sponge Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., Raipur, with active support from APEDA under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The fortified rice is enriched with iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12, aimed at improving nutritional quality.

Officials said the export marks an important step in promoting India’s value-added and nutrition-rich food products in international markets. It also supports the government’s goal of strengthening nutritional security through fortified foods.

The initiative opens new export opportunities for Chhattisgarh’s rice sector, while helping partner nations like Papua New Guinea improve their food and nutrition standards.
