The Department of Posts and the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) signed an MoU to create a dedicated logistics system for tribal products sold online . This partnership aims to connect tribal artisans and entrepreneurs with wider markets across the country.

Under this agreement, India Post will manage end-to-end logistics for all orders placed through TRIFED’s e-commerce platforms, including the Tribes India marketplace . The collaboration leverages India Post’s vast network of over 1.5 lakh post offices, more than 90% of which are in rural and remote areas, ensuring last-mile delivery even in the country’s farthest corners.

This logistics partnership complements TRIFED’s ongoing efforts to digitize tribal commerce. Tribal products are already available on major e-commerce platforms including Amazon, Flipkart, and Big Basket, and through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) . TRIFED has also established Tribes India showrooms at nine airports across the country, including Chennai, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Goa, expanding physical retail presence alongside digital channels .

The collaboration with India Post adds a critical infrastructure layer to this ecosystem, potentially creating a scalable model that could be extended to other rural and artisan-based sectors such as handloom clusters and self-help groups.
