India embarked on a transformative voyage towards sustainable and globally competitive maritime growth as the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) inaugurated India Maritime Week 2025. Day 1 witnessed a series of landmark Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth over ₹55,000 crore, underscoring India’s commitment to becoming a green, innovative, and globally integrated maritime power.

The agreements span key areas such as green port infrastructure, renewable energy integration, shipbuilding modernization, cruise tourism, and skill development. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal emphasized that the initiatives are aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Maritime India Vision 2030”, aimed at making India a global hub for blue economy and sustainable shipping.

The event brought together global investors, industry leaders, and maritime innovators to explore opportunities in India’s evolving port ecosystem. Several sessions focused on green hydrogen, offshore wind energy, and decarbonization of maritime transport. India Maritime Week 2025 will continue through the week with sessions on coastal shipping, port-led industrialization, inland waterways, and digital transformation in logistics, reinforcing India’s drive toward a green and global maritime future.
