The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the export of 1.755 metric tonnes of organic Palmyra jaggery powder from Tamil Nadu to Bulgaria, marking another step towards expanding India’s organic agricultural exports and strengthening its presence in international markets.

The initiative highlights the growing opportunities for traditional Indian agricultural products in overseas markets and reflects efforts to promote value-added products derived from indigenous resources.

Palmyra jaggery, made from the sap of the palmyra palm, is a traditional sweetener valued for its distinctive flavour and traditional production practices. Its export offers opportunities to connect local producers with international consumers while supporting the wider development of India’s organic food sector.

APEDA, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, plays a key role in promoting the export of agricultural and processed food products from India. Its efforts include facilitating market access, supporting exporters and strengthening the global reach of Indian products.

The shipment from Tamil Nadu to Bulgaria underscores the potential of traditional and organic products to diversify India’s agricultural export basket, create opportunities for producers and strengthen the international recognition of Indian agricultural produce.
