India and Nepal have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of forests, wildlife, environment, biodiversity conservation and climate change.
The MoU aims to strengthen institutional collaboration and promote exchange of information, best practices and technical expertise between the two countries. It provides a structured framework for joint initiatives in forest management, wildlife conservation, restoration of degraded ecosystems, biodiversity protection and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The agreement also envisages capacity building programmes, research collaboration, exchange visits of experts and joint implementation of projects of mutual interest. Given the shared ecosystems and transboundary landscapes between India and Nepal, the MoU is expected to further consolidate cooperation in conserving biodiversity and addressing environmental challenges in the Himalayan region.
The signing of the MoU reflects the commitment of both countries to deepen their longstanding partnership and work together towards sustainable development and environmental protection.
