In a historic move, the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaboratively present and preserve India’s scientific and cultural heritage. This groundbreaking initiative is the first of its kind in India to integrate science and culture on a single, unified platform.
The MoU sets the stage for interdisciplinary research, joint events, and shared expertise to better interpret India’s heritage. Digitization and documentation of artifacts and scientific data. Educational programs intertwined with Project Mausam, addressing climate change and maritime history.
Development of museums, conservation of antiquities, and enhanced audio-visual records. Outreach & Publications: Plans include joint publications, training in conservation and heritage management, and public outreach to raise awareness among citizens and policymakers.
A senior official from the Culture Ministry lauded the initiative as a pioneering attempt to present the nation’s scientific and cultural milestones both domestically and internationally.
