In a major boost to India’s coastal security, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) commissioned the Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) ICGS Adamya at Paradip Port today. The addition of this vessel is expected to significantly enhance surveillance, search and rescue, and anti-smuggling operations along the country’s eastern seaboard.
The vessel was formally commissioned in the presence of senior officials from the Coast Guard, Ministry of Defence, and local administration. Designed for high-speed response, ICGS Adamya is equipped with advanced navigation and communication systems, modern weaponry, and superior maneuvering capabilities to operate in challenging maritime conditions.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, senior ICG officers highlighted that the induction of ICGS Adamya reflects India’s growing focus on strengthening maritime security infrastructure, especially in the Bay of Bengal region. The vessel will play a key role in coastal patrol, anti-poaching activities, and protection of vital assets at sea.
The Fast Patrol Vessel is also equipped for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, making it a vital asset during natural calamities such as cyclones that frequently impact the eastern coast. With the commissioning of ICGS Adamya, the Indian Coast Guard continues its efforts to expand its fleet and ensure round-the-clock vigil in India’s maritime zones, in line with the nation’s maritime security strategy.
