The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated India’s first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) and dedicated the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to the Nation today. The project is aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, ensuring faster and more efficient commuter movement, and promoting sustainable transport solutions.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the launch of Namo Bharat services marks a transformative step in India’s urban transport ecosystem. He observed that the corridor will significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Meerut, offering a modern, reliable and environment-friendly mode of transport to daily commuters.
Highlighting the Government’s focus on infrastructure-led growth, the Prime Minister stated that world-class rail networks are being developed across the country to strengthen connectivity and drive economic progress. He noted that the Namo Bharat system integrates advanced signalling, modern train sets and commuter-friendly facilities to provide a seamless travel experience.
The Prime Minister further remarked that the project will contribute to decongesting roads, lowering vehicular emissions and improving quality of life in the National Capital Region. He underscored that such initiatives reflect the Government’s commitment to building next-generation infrastructure under a holistic and future-ready approach.
The Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor is expected to benefit thousands of passengers daily and support balanced regional development.
