May 18, 2025 Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹1,550 crore in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The initiatives, led by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), aim to significantly boost urban infrastructure, housing, and employment opportunities in the city.

Among the key highlights was the inauguration of the Pallav Overbridge at Naranpura, designed to ease traffic for over 1.5 lakh daily commuters. Shri Shah also handed over housing units to 1,070 families and inaugurated 94 civic development projects, including water distribution systems, drainage upgrades, and a ₹237 crore railway overbridge between Sabarmati and Chandkheda.

In an effort to support local livelihoods, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) distributed employment-generating tools — including potter’s wheels, sewing machines, and incense stick-making machines — to over 1,000 beneficiaries. Highlighting environmental responsibility, Shri Shah launched the Green Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Mission, urging citizens to plant trees in honor of their mothers. The AMC has committed to planting 40 lakh trees as part of the initiative.

The minister also inaugurated the KK Patel Nursing College in Gozariya and a frozen potato processing unit in Sadra, Mehsana, expanding opportunities in healthcare education and agro processing. “These projects reflect the government’s commitment to holistic development, self-reliance, and environmental sustainability,” Shri Shah stated during the event.
