In a significant push to modernize India’s rail infrastructure, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today flagged off four new Vande Bharat Express trains from the railway station in Varanasi. The move is set to dramatically improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and boost economic and tourism links across several key states.
The virtual flag-off ceremony underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and showcasing indigenous manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The newly inaugurated trains will connect Varanasi to major economic and cultural hubs. The confirmed routes are:
- Varanasi – New Delhi Vande Bharat Express: Providing a faster, more comfortable link between the spiritual capital and the national capital.
- Varanasi – Mumbai Vande Bharat Express: Connecting the holy city with India’s financial powerhouse.
- Varanasi – Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express: Enhancing connectivity between the two historically significant cities.
- Varanasi – Prayagraj – Ayodhya Vande Bharat Express: Strengthening the “Heritage Arc” and religious tourism circuit in Uttar Pradesh.
