The FASTag Annual Pass has crossed the significant milestone of one crore activations, reflecting growing adoption of digital and technology-enabled toll payment solutions among highway users across the country.
The Annual Pass initiative is aimed at providing greater convenience to frequent users of National Highways by offering a simplified toll-payment mechanism. It enables eligible private vehicle owners to make multiple toll-plaza crossings under the applicable annual-pass framework.
The milestone highlights the increasing use of FASTag-based digital payments for highway travel and the wider adoption of technology in India’s road transportation system. The initiative is also intended to make journeys more convenient for regular highway commuters while streamlining toll collection.
FASTag, which uses Radio Frequency Identification technology, enables toll charges to be deducted electronically from the linked account as vehicles pass through designated toll plazas. The system has helped reduce the need for cash transactions and contributed to faster movement of vehicles at toll plazas.
The one-crore milestone represents a significant level of participation in the Annual Pass programme and underscores the demand for technology-driven solutions that simplify highway travel. The continued expansion of FASTag and related initiatives forms part of efforts to improve the efficiency, convenience and transparency of toll collection across India’s National Highway network.
