The DGCA has announced that it will begin automated generation of unique “Computer Numbers” for flight-crew candidates (including pilots, navigators, flight dispatchers etc) through its online examination and registration portal, PARIKSHA (pariksha.dgca.gov.in).

Under the updated system, new candidates registering on the portal for the first time will receive their computer number through the system once their online registration and document upload are complete — thereby reducing manual paper-based steps previously required. The Computer Number serves as a unique identifier for all flight-crew examinations and licence-applications administered by the DGCA.

Key changes include:

The registration module on PARIKSHA now allows candidates to select “New Candidate Registration” under the Flight Crew category and upload required documents.

The FAQ section confirms that after final submission “will the candidate get the Computer number automatically generated by online system?” — indicating the process is now automated.

The Computer Number is valid across all categories of flight-crew examinations (PPL, CPL, ATPL, dispatchers) and remains associated with the candidate for life.

According to industry commentary, this update is expected to streamline the process significantly, reduce dependency on physical paperwork and postal submissions, and accelerate eligibility for examinations. One candidate on an aviation forum remarked:
