The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Delhi Police to enhance smart policing capabilities through the deployment of advanced indigenous technologies.

The MoU aims to leverage cutting-edge solutions in areas such as secure communication, artificial intelligence (AI)-based surveillance, cybersecurity, and public safety systems, thereby strengthening the operational efficiency and responsiveness of the police force.

Under this collaboration, C-DOT will provide a suite of advanced technological solutions, including AI-based Facial Recognition Systems for identification of suspects and missing persons, secure communication platforms such as SAMVAD and SAMVAD Prime, and Mission Critical Services (MCX) for real-time communication during emergencies.

In addition, solutions such as secure video conferencing (C-DOT Meet), intelligent attendance systems, and cell broadcast mechanisms for geo-targeted public alerts will be deployed to improve coordination and outreach. Advanced cybersecurity tools, including Trinetra-based monitoring systems, along with emerging quantum communication technologies like Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), will further enhance data security and resilience.

The collaboration aligns with the Government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, promoting the adoption of indigenous technologies in critical sectors such as internal security and law enforcement.

This initiative is expected to significantly enhance situational awareness, improve response times, and enable data-driven policing in the national capital. It also sets a benchmark for replication of similar smart policing initiatives across other states and Union Territories.
