In a significant step toward strengthening India’s public health infrastructure, the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), under the Ministry of AYUSH, and the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on biosafety training, research, and capacity building in public health preparedness.
The partnership aims to enhance interdisciplinary research and training in biosafety, biosecurity, and outbreak response management. Through this collaboration, both institutions will jointly develop educational modules, workshops, and certification programs for healthcare professionals, researchers, and students across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director General of CCRH, said, “This collaboration is a strategic move to integrate homoeopathic research with modern biosafety frameworks, ensuring that our healthcare systems are better prepared for emerging public health challenges.”
Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, added, “By combining our research infrastructure and expertise, we aim to build a new generation of professionals trained in biosafety and public health research methodologies, strengthening India’s overall health security.”
The MoU will facilitate joint research projects, exchange of faculty and students, and organization of national-level seminars and symposia focused on biosafety and infectious disease preparedness. It also envisions the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Biosafety Training and Research to foster innovation and evidence-based practices in public health.
Officials from both institutions emphasized that this collaboration aligns with India’s broader efforts to enhance public health resilience, support the One Health approach, and build robust systems for pandemic preparedness and bio-risk management.
