Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, is setting new benchmarks in gender inclusion by significantly enhancing the participation of women in healthcare and technical fields — areas traditionally dominated by men. Under its recent initiatives, BCCL has not only recruited more women doctors, nurses, and paramedics across its hospitals but has also expanded opportunities for female engineers, geologists, and IT professionals at mining and project sites.
“Women are now heading crucial departments, operating advanced mining machinery, and leading digital transformation efforts across our command areas,” said a BCCL spokesperson. “This is part of our broader commitment to create a balanced, inclusive, and forward-looking workforce.”
The company has also introduced skill enhancement programs tailored for female employees, including training in mine safety, automation, environmental monitoring, and medical technology. To support working mothers, BCCL has upgraded its on-site crèche facilities and adopted flexible work policies in administrative units.
These efforts align with the Government of India’s larger vision for women-led development under the “Nari Shakti” initiative, showcasing how public sector enterprises can play a pivotal role in driving social change. By championing gender parity in critical sectors, BCCL is not only fostering inclusive growth but also reshaping the narrative around women in India’s industrial ecosystem.
