In a major healthcare initiative, the Northern Command of the Indian Army successfully conducted ‘Op Drishti’, an advanced surgical eye camp at Command Hospital (Northern Command), J&K. The first-of-its-kind medical outreach programme witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 2,000 individuals screened and approximately 400 eye surgeries performed over the course of the camp.
The initiative brought together a team of expert ophthalmologists, surgeons, paramedics and support staff, equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical technology. The camp focused on providing free, high-quality eye care, including cataract surgeries, retinal procedures, and treatment for other vision-impairing conditions.

Initiative aimed at restoring vision, reducing preventable blindness, and extending quality medical care to underserved populations. The camp not only strengthened civil-military cooperation but also reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to welfare beyond operational duties. Many patients from remote districts of J&K, who otherwise lack access to advanced ophthalmic care, benefited significantly.
