The accomplishment of crossing ₹ 4 lakh crore in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) within just ten months of the fiscal year 2024-2025 stands as a significant benchmark for the evolution of digital procurement in the country.

Launched in 2016, the GeM initiative was designed to streamline the procurement process for government departments, thereby reducing inefficiencies associated with conventional methods. The remarkable achievement of reaching such a substantial GMV reflects not only the growing confidence of government entities in this digital framework but also highlights the increasing participation of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), fostering a more inclusive economic environment.

This surge in GMV can be attributed to several factors.
