The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, signed a Common Empanelment Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Insurance Council (GIC) to enable cashless treatment facilities for patients covered under 32 general insurance companies.

The MoU was signed by Prof. (Vaidya) P.K. Prajapati, Director, AIIA, and Shri Segar Sampathkumar, Director (Health), General Insurance Council, in the presence of senior officials and experts in the field of Ayush health insurance.

With this empanelment, AIIA has been brought under the network of all 32 member general insurance companies of the General Insurance Council. The initiative will allow eligible policyholders to avail cashless Ayurvedic treatment at AIIA, thereby reducing out-of-pocket expenditure and enhancing accessibility to traditional healthcare services.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Vaidya) P.K. Prajapati stated that the agreement marks a significant milestone in integrating Ayurveda into the mainstream health insurance ecosystem. He emphasized that the move will strengthen public confidence in evidence-based Ayurvedic treatment and promote wider adoption of Ayush systems of medicine.

The collaboration is expected to facilitate seamless processing of insurance claims and ensure greater transparency and efficiency in providing healthcare services. It also aligns with the Government’s vision of strengthening Ayush systems and expanding affordable healthcare access to citizens.

The initiative reflects the growing recognition of Ayurveda within the formal healthcare framework and reinforces the Government’s commitment to promoting holistic and integrative healthcare across the country.
