In a remarkable milestone, the FASTag Annual Pass has surpassed 25 lakh users just two months after its nationwide launch, reflecting a strong public response to the initiative aimed at streamlining toll payments and enhancing travel convenience. Launched by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the annual pass allows users to make unlimited highway journeys within a fixed duration, eliminating the need for frequent recharges and reducing congestion at toll plazas.
Officials noted that the initiative has been especially popular among frequent inter-city commuters, logistics operators, and commercial fleet owners, who benefit from seamless travel and time savings. The NHAI plans to expand the facility by integrating it with digital mobility platforms and unified payment systems, further strengthening the digital infrastructure of India’s highway network.
The success of the FASTag Annual Pass highlights the country’s accelerating shift toward cashless, contactless, and efficient transportation systems, in line with the Government’s vision of “Digital India” and smart mobility.
